Party Season Plump Pout
It's nearly Christmas which means it's party season. Instead of doing a full makeup routine, I thought I'd focus on the lip trio I crack out when I want plump voluptuous lips. Who am I kidding? I want that look all day everyday!
After a lot of trial and error (emphasis on the error), I discovered a wonderful lip routine that ensures a full looking plump pout all night long.
Prep:
You can't skip this step. Much like your face, if you don't prep your lips, the lipstick isn't going to sit as well or last as long. I usually just run over my lips gently with a damp flannel every morning and night when I cleanse my face. I follow up with lip balm which ensures I have soft smooth lips. My lip balm of choice is Nuxe Reve De Miel as it's semi matte and doesn't interfere with whatever I'm using. Make sure you apply the balm in advance though, so it has the chance to really sink in.
The Trio:
This is where it gets fun. For that oh so trendy 'my lips but way bigger' look, I like to use a trio of lip products. It all starts with the cult Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Liner in Pillow Talk. I line my lips all the way round and fill them in. It provides a great base and allows you to cheat your lip shape. The pinky mauve is also a really flattering shade on so many skin tones. Blot a few times and work it into the lips with a brush (or your finger) to set the liner.
The next product I use is the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. The subtle pinky berry tones help liven the lips, whilst still keeping the overall look in the nude realm. It just stops it from looking flat and dull. The moisturising formula is also a win because hydrated lips always look more plump. Blot and reapply so that the lipstick lasts all night. Be sure to apply thin layers to stop it from going cakey.
You could stop there, or you could add even more volume by using the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist, in the centre of the lips. The glossy (but not lip gloss glossy) lipstick adds shine and plumps the lips. It draws the light to the centre of the lips creating the illusion of fuller lips. The shade itself is a very sheer nude that almost adapts to your own lip shade. There isn't too much colour in it. It just adds a lovely sheen.
The great thing about this combination is that if it wears off a little, you can just top it up with the Soap and Glory Gloss Stick. Because we took the time to layer the liner and coloured lipstick, that's not going to budge.
That may seem like a lot of work, but let's be honest here, we're all makeup addicts. We'd quite happily spends hours perfecting our makeup. Isn't that the best part of a night out?
Thanks for reading,
Avani
