L'oreal Extraordinary Oil vs Pantene Dry Oil with Vitamin E

I love a good hair oil. They tame frizz, make your hair feel softer and they make your hair look oh so shiny. Today I'm comparing two hair oils from the drugstore.

Let's start with the L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil (£9.99). I've been using this since it was released. I absolutely adore it! In fact, I love it so much that I've nearly finished my second bottle. If there was one hair item I couldn't live without, it would be this! This is a really nourishing oil that helps tame frizz, softens the hair and basically gives you a good hair day. I rub about three pumps (I have very thick hair) in the palms of my hands and work it through the mid lengths to ends of my hair. Whatever is left on my hands, I run through the roots. As soon as I've applied this, my hair feels so soft and smooth. I also find that it dries a lot faster. If you have fine hair, I would maybe start with one pump through the mid lengths and ends. This oil isn't heavy by any means, but it is very nourishing. I also use this on dry hair, but only using one pump through the ends. This hydrates my tips and makes my hair look very shiny. The packaging is undeniably beautiful; a gold glass bottle with a pump- definitely dressing table worthy. It's not the most practical for travel but you can easily decant it.

The Pantene Pro V Dry Oil with Vitamin E (£6.99) is also a very good hair oil. It's a little bit lighter than the L'oreal one but still nourishing. I prefer using this on dry hair because I don't find it enough on my wet hair. I think because my hair is so thick, it needs a little bit more nourishment. I rub one pump in the palms of my hands and work this through the ends of my dry hair. I love using this as a finishing oil after styling. It adds a gorgeous shine to the hair without weighing it down. If you are after an oil to use on dry hair, this is much more suitable than the Extraordinary Oil. The packaging is very similar; a gold bottle with a pump, although this bottle is plastic. It has a beautiful scent to it; almost like a perfume but for your hair. I personally love it because it's not too strong but it's still there. I think it adds a really nice touch.

So, if I had to choose, I would pick the L'oreal Extraordinary Oil. Although it's a little heavier for dry hair, I can live with that. Personally, I prefer the results of this oil in wet hair over the Pantene one. However, if you have fine hair, skip the L'oreal one and head on over to Pantene. They are both great hair oils, it just depends on your hair type!

Do you use a hair oil? If so, what's your favourite one?

Thanks for reading,
