Monthly Favourites: June 2016

June is coming to a close and I've got a few beauty favourites, an unfavourite and of course, my blogger of the month.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is such an amazing product. It's high coverage but doesn't look heavy on the skin at all. So far this year, it's my standout product. I have done a review which you can read here.

I think you all know by now how much I love Makeup Geek eyeshadows. I added so many more to my collection and there are four I've been gravitating towards this month. Shimma Shimma is just the perfect inner corner highlight. It's so bright which means it instantly makes you look more awake and opens up the eyes. Glamorous is a lovely neutral gold. It's very wearable for day time and suits everyone. Goddess is a beautiful bronze that looks amazing blended into the outer corners. Last but not least is Burlesque which a rich dark purple shimmer. I just love this for a smokey eye because it's something a little different. If you'd like to see swatches of my entire collection, I've got a post here.

My hay fever has been terrible this summer and the only eye cream that seems to soothe my irritated eyes, is the La Roche Posay Toleriane Eye Contour Cream*. It's incredibly lightweight and feels almost fluid. It hydrates the under eye area very well, without making them even more sore.

I've been using the Klorane Oatmilk Dry Shampoo a lot this month and for good reason. I used it overnight after a massage when my hair was fairly oily, but I didn't want to wash it the next day. My goodness, this stuff is fantastic. By the time I went to bed, it looked as if I'd washed it and by the next morning it looked even better. Not only does it work so well, but it doesn't irritate the scalp or make it feel powdery like other dry shampoo's.

My blogger of the month is xameliax who is also a Youtuber. I've been watching her videos for a while and I love them. What I particularly love is how she uses her platform to spread such a positive message. She made a video with the hashtag #JustAsIAm which is all about being 'perfect' on social media. We all get sucked into how 'perfect' people look on Twitter and Instagram and her video was a breathe of fresh air about how easy it is to edit a picture to achieve that so called 'perfection'. The video is all about loving who you are which I think is such an important message to be putting out there.

I'm going to end on what's probably a controversial subject that I believe is too important not to mention. Last week the UK voted to leave the EU. It's a decision I personally do not agree with. Whilst the EU does have its flaws it has created much needed peace and stability in an area of the of the world where historically peace hasn't been easy to achieve.

By leaving, I feel we are turning our back on that. Not to mention the effects it will have on our economy. What's really been concerning me though, is the increase in racism. For the first time in my life, I feel uneasy. It's as if the referendum result has allowed the those in our society who have racist views, to creep out of the woodwork. I don't know what the repercussions will be, I just hope that we haven't started something we're going to regret.

And that pretty much sums up June for me. Lots of lovely beauty products, a brilliant blogger and a political earthquake. It has been quite a month...

What's are your favourites? What do think of the EU referendum result?

Thanks for reading,
Avani
xoxo
