Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Brush Cleanser vs Beauty Blender Liquid Cleansing Gel

Last week I reviewed the Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Brush Cleanser (£6.99), so it's only fair that I do a comparison post with its high end counter part, the Beauty Blender Liquid Cleanser (£15).

The texture of the cleansers are actually really different. The Real Techniques one is very thick whereas the Beauty Blender cleanser is a lot thinner and lighter. This definitely makes a difference in terms of how well it washes brushes. I find the Beauty Blender cleanser easier to work with and it cleans my brushes a little better than the Real Techniques one. I'm not saying that the RT one is bad, it cleans my brushes better than baby shampoo for sure, but it's harder to work with compared to the Beauty Blender cleanser. For example, I don't need as much product for my foundation brushes if I use the Beauty Blender liquid cleanser and it's easier to rinse clean.

I do prefer the scent of the RT one. It's smells like the beauty section of a department store and it lingers too. Neither of the cleansers dry out the bristles of the brushes which I think is so important. I always worry that the bristles are just going to dry out over time but these don't do that.

I personally prefer the results I get from the Beauty Blender cleanser, but both are excellent. I find the convenience of the Beauty Blender cleanser worth the extra money. You also don't need as much so you're not going to go through it that quickly. I've had my sample size for months and I'm nowhere near finished. Although the Real Techniques brush cleanser is good, I do think the Beauty Blender cleanser is superior.

What's your favourite brush cleanser?

  1. I need to try and buy both of these, I stick to traditional baby shampoo - but it doesn't seem to be cleaning them perfectly?

    1. I don't find baby shampoo that good to be honest. It works fine, until you try a proper brush cleanser!
