Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit

It's no secret that I love drugstore makeup. You can find high quality makeup at a bargain price. Today I've put together my drugstore makeup starter kit; all the products I recommend if you're new to makeup.

Base:

I couldn't do this post without recommending the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream. It offers light coverage but can definitely be built up to a medium coverage without it caking. The finish is neither dewy or matte, it just looks really natural on the skin. It's also very comfortable to wear.

I have yet to find a concealer I love at the drugstore but I really like the L'oreal Lumi Magique Pens for under the eyes as they brighten the area and cancel out any darkness.

If your looking for a good powder, the Rimmel Stay Matte is a reliable option for setting everything down and keeping the shine away. If you're after something a bit more luminous, the Bourjois Java Rice Powder is a good option.

Cheeks:

My pick for blush has to be the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes. They're a blush and highlighter hybrid and come in so many shades to suit different skin tones. My favourites are Alluring Rose and Gorgeous Berries.

For bronzer, I really like the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer as it doesn't go patchy and is a true bronze so you get a really lovely sun kissed look.

Eyes:

Where to begin with eyes? I could be here for days recommending eyeshadows and mascaras from the drugstore. If you want a cream eyeshadow, then the Maybelline Colour Tattoos are my top recommendation. They're a dream to blend and once they set, they last all day without creasing or fading.

I really like the Natural Collection Single Eyeshadows, particularly the shade Milk Chocolate. It's a really good mid toned matte brown that's not too warm or too cool. It's a shade everyone should have in their collection. I also recommend the shade Crushed Walnut as it's really multi purpose. You can use it in the brows and to contour depending on your skin tone and hair colour.

For beginners looking for eyeshadow palettes, you can't go wrong with the L'oreal Colour Riche La Palette eyeshadow palettes. They come in two shade variants depending on what you're after. If you're looking for something with a bit more pigment, I recommend Sleek palettes.

My mascara choice would be anything from Max Factor. I have yet to be disappointed by any of their mascaras. My eyebrow pick would be the L'oreal Brow Artist Genius Kits. For eyeliner, Rimmel and Barry M do excellent pencil formula's and Soap and Glory have a good liquid option.

Lips:

As with eyes, I could be here all day, so I've narrowed it down to a couple of formula's. For a natural sheer low maintenance lipstick, the Revlon Lip Butters are perfect. If you want something a bit more intense and matte, then the Bourjois Rouge Editions are fantastic. They offer a strong colour pay off that lasts ages on the lips without drying them out. In terms of lip gloss, I really like the Revlon Super Lustrous ones and the Tanya Burr lip glosses.

If you're looking for good brushes, my two favourite brands are Real Techniques and Zoeva. I've done Top 5 posts for each so be sure to check that out if you want to know more about which specific brushes are my absolute favourites.

What drugstore makeup would you recommend?

Thanks for reading,
Avani

    1. Thank you! I must try Skin Luminizer- it sounds right up my street. I'm so gutted that Solar Powder isn't dark enough for my skin tone. It looks like such a lovely bronzer!
