Travel Makeup: City Edition

Today's travel makeup post is based on a city break. When I think of a city break, I think long days out sightseeing and exploring new places.

Foundation and Concealer- I'd take the Bourjois CC Cream because it's light enough for the day and you can build on it for the night without it going cakey. I would also pack a couple of concealers, one for under the eyes etc and one for spot concealing.

Blush- If I'm out all day, I'll want my blush to last so I'd take the Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop. There's no need for a midday touch up and the colour is great because it warms the complexion without the need for bronzer.

Highlight- I'd pack a highlight for the evening and my pick would be Mac's Cream Colour Base in Hush. Being a cream, it's so easy to apply over the top of any makeup and adds an instant glow and freshness to the face.

Eyes- For a city break, during the day I'd probably only wear a waterproof mascara. For the evening, I think I'd pack cream eyeshadows because they're are really quick to apply and you don't need any brushes. I'd pack the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze, the Rimmel ScandalEyes Shadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze and a simple black liner. All three can be worn together or separately and you can create pretty much any eye look.

Lips- I'd go for a sheer lipstick during the day and something bolder at night. Narrowing down my collection is quite hard but I think I'd pack Mac Plumful for the day and the Revlon Colour Boost Matte Balm in Striking for the night. Both can be worn either opaque or sheered out giving a lot of flexibility depending on my mood.

Extra- Mac Fix Plus. This is the one product I wouldn't leave behind because a quick spritz leaves the face looking so fresh and glowy. It's excellent if you want to add more makeup on top of what you've already done because it stops the dreaded cake face. It's also really refreshing to use during the day.

So that's what I'd take on a city holiday. The idea behind this mini series is to be minimal. I hope you've found this post useful. Be sure to check out my beach edition and let me know what you'd take on your city break!

  2. I always reach for Clinique Ginger Pop and Maybelline On & On Bronze when I need my makeup to last a long time (especially in the heat walking around seeing the sights!) Great choices and I will definitely bear these in mind next time I'm away :) xx
