Travel Makeup: Beach Edition

Last year I did a What's in my Travel Makeup Bag for a beach holiday. I took a lot of makeup and barely used any of it. This year I thought I would do a few posts on what I would take with me for different destinations. Today's post is going to be the beach edition.

If I'm at the beach or pool, I don't tend to wear makeup. I usually can't be bothered to put on any makeup since I'm going to be in and out of the water all day. If you do, I recommend waterproof makeup and really setting your makeup if you want it to last.

Since I wouldn't really wear makeup during the day, the contents of my makeup bag are mainly for the evening:

Primer- I like to take a glowy primer rather than a foundation. After being out in the sun all day, I know I won't want to put any foundation on. I also find that a good primer and concealer can sometimes look as good as a sheer foundation. My primer of choice is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm because it gives you a serious glow without any shimmer.

Concealer- If I'm not taking foundation, I'll pack two concealers. The first will be a more creamy texture for general concealing around the eyes and nose. The second will be for targeted concealing or spot concealing. My concealers of choice are the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and Mac's Stuido Finish Concealer.

Bronzer and Blush- I do love a bit of bronzer so my Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer definitely comes with me. In terms of blush, I'd take two, one powder and one cream. The powder blush would be Max Factor's Alluring Rose and the cream would be Max Factor's Soft Pink Creamy Blush. Both can double up as highlighters and all three cheek products can be used on the eyes.

Eyes- I usually take every bit of eye makeup I own on holiday with me. This time, I've been good and really narrowed it down. I chose the Bourjois Colour Band Shadow Stick in Rose Fauviste and the Natural Collection Matte Eyeshadow in Milk Chocolate. I can wear either product alone or together. I haven't packed any eyeliner because I know that I wouldn't wear it. I would pack a waterproof mascara though.

Lips- Last year, I think I took eight lip products. It was a bit excessive and I ended up only wearing two. This time, two is all I would pack. The first being a sheer glossy nude (Soap and Glory Nudist) and the other being the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. The nude is great because it's really low maintenance and mainly adds a nice gloss to the lips without much pigment. The lip butter, whilst it is sheer, can be built up to quite an opaque colour that's easy to wear.

That's all the makeup I would take. I've really tried to narrow it down- last year I basically took my entire makeup collection and let's just say, my suitcase wasn't the lightest! Obviously this is just my personal opinion. If you want to take more makeup, go for it. I just thought it might be fun to put together a little selection of products I'd take with me.

If you're going on holiday and don't want to take a lot of makeup, you may want to have a look at my post on multi tasking makeup products. I've also done a couple of posts on how to do makeup with just five products and even just three products

I hope this post has been useful for you. Let me know what makeup you'd take on a beach holiday!

Thanks for reading,
Avani

  2. I love your picks here! The Nars concealer is just forever in my makeup bag, Alluring Rose is gorgeous for summer and Milk Chocolate is a perfect crease shade :) I love your lip picks too, I need to check out Berry Smoothie in the lip butters (so perfect for summer!) and Nudist is a favourite of mine xx
