Tried and Tested: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks
Liquid lipsticks are to me, the new BB Cream and CC Cream trend. Theoretically an ideal product but in reality, they can be hit and miss. Some have great pigmentation but are difficult to apply and some are long lasting but very drying . The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks (£8.99) are perfect on pretty much every level.
Let's start with application because that's where I usually have an issue with liquid lipsticks. The doe-foot applicator makes applying the lipstick really easy. These are opaque in one swipe but if you keep layering it, you get an even bolder lip.
The formula is matte but it feels very light and comfortable on the lips. When you first apply it, it feels quite wet but once it dries down (which takes less than a minute) it does not budge. The lasting power is fantastic. It's a complete no fuss lipstick; apply it in the morning and you won't need to touch it until the evening. For such a long lasting lipstick, it is not at all drying! Removing it can be a bit of a challenge but if you use something oil based, you'll be fine. I like to soak a cotton pad in a little bit of Almond Oil and use that to remove it because it conditions the lips at the same time.
I have the shade '03 Hot Pepper' which is a beautiful red with a slight orange undertone. It's a really stunning colour and it almost smooths over any imperfections on the lips. Being a orangey red, it's become a staple in my collection. I've been eyeing up the other bold shades in this line too; '06 Pink Pong' and '02 Frambourjoise' have my name all over them!
If you are new to liquid lipsticks, these would be perfect for you. Even if you're not, these are definitely worth checking out. I cannot get over how comfortable they are to wear. The first time I wore it, I actually forgot I was wearing a lipstick! Bourjois really hit the nail on the head with these!
What's your favourite liquid lipstick?
