Tried and Tested: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

I've wanted to try the Ambient Lighting range from Hourglass for absolutely ages. There are so many products within the range that it is easy to get lost. They recently released the Ambient Lighting Edit (£65) which is a collection of their, powders, blushes and bronzers.

The palette contains six powders all of which are beautifully soft and pigmented without being too pigmented. They're so easy to blend and offer a gorgeous silky glow to the skin. You can create so many looks with this one palette and the colours are well curated for different skin tones.

Iridescent Strobe Light (face powder)- A powder designed specifically for the new strobing trend. It's beautiful on the tops of the cheekbones and leans a little peachy on me. 

Dim Light (face powder)- I think this is suitable for all over the face to set things down without taking away the glow. It's undetectable on the skin. 

Diffused Light (face powder)- A yellow toned powder that's great for the cheeks or anywhere else you get redness. 

Mood Exposure (blush)- A plumy blush that looks stunning on darker skin tones. It's got a hint of mauve and is perfect for the colder months.

Luminous Flush (blush)- A very uplifting pinky coral that's surprisingly pigmented but very subtle at the same time.

Luminous Bronze Light (bronzer)- A warm toned luminous bronzer which is ideal for medium skin tones. It's quite orangey, but not in a scary way.

There has been a lot of talk about how tiny the palette is; it's deceptively small. Bigger than an eyeshadow palette but smaller than a standard blush powder and definitely smaller than most blush palettes. I personally don't mind the size because I haven't bought any of their powders prior to this palette. For me, it still works out to be a great price despite it's weight because I can try 6 products. 

If you already own a few Hourglass Ambient powders, then I don't think you necessarily need this palette. It does contain an exclusive Ambient Lighting Powder (Iridescent Strobe Light) but I'm not sure I'd spend £65 for one powder, no matter how beautiful it is. And this one is beautiful.

Overall, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit is quite stunning and I definitely have no regrets over making the splurge. I think the individual powders are worth the hype and are perfect if you normally hate the way powders look on the skin. They add instant life to the face and you can mix the different shades and layer them to create a multitude of looks. This palette in particular would make the perfect Christmas present for any beauty lover.
