This post has been in my drafts for weeks and I'm finally hitting publish. I purchased Max Factor's Clump Defy Water Resistant Mascara a while ago and it's got to be one of the best mascaras I've tried.
This mascara really lifts and curls the lashes, giving me a lot of length and volume. It fans them out and offers a very fluttery look. I find the curved shape of the wand helps hug the lashes and lift them whilst also coating the roots for the illusion of a thicker lash line.
I love that I can create different looks with this one mascara. As the name would suggest, you can build it up without it clumping. Despite being just water resistant, on me, it's pretty much waterproof. I can full on cry without it smudging. With that being said, Clump Defy is easy to remove. Both micellar water and cleansing oil remove this mascara gently, so there's no need for any tugging at the delicate eye area.

I've also discovered that this is a pretty close dupe to Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara. The shape of the wand and the end result of the lashes are very similar. Both give a very fluttery effect that doesn't flake off or drop throughout the day. I'd say that the only slight difference is that the wand on the Benefit mascara has tiny hooks which grab onto the lashes a bit better. However, the final look is still very similar if you were to use Max Factor's Clump Defy.
If you've wanted to try Roller Lash but weren't sure due to the price point, give Clump Defy a go first. It's a fantastic mascara that may have overtaken my love for False Lash Effect also by Max Factor.
Have you tried Clump Defy? How do you think it compares to Benefit's Roller Lash?
Thanks for reading,
Avani
