Tried and Tested: L'oreal La Palette Nude 'Rose'

Today I'll be reviewing the much talked about L'oreal La Palette Nude 'Rose' (£14.99).

First of all, the packaging is very sleek. It's compact yet houses 10 neutral shades and a sizeable mirror. It does come with a brush and sponge applicator. The brush end is pretty useless and the sponge is a sponge. Overall, I like the packaging. It's very slim and looks good.

The Brush
Now for the most important part, the eyeshadows. I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. I've got individual L'oreal eyeshadows that I love. You can read that here. These on the other hand are rather underwhelming. The pigmentation is not terrible but not great. They are on the chalky side and are fairly powdery. This palette contains four matte shades which I do really like. As drugstore matte eyeshadows go, there not too bad. They are a bit chalky, but at the same time, they are usable. You can get good definition using them. My favourite matte shade is the second matte shade; a medium toned brown. These are the sorts of colours that you can never have too much of. They are fab for the crease. My least favourite matte is probably the grey. It's not really my shade- grey's don't suit me that well.

The shimmery colours are very soft in finish. They're not crazy shimmery which I actually quite like. You can get a really soft tonal look with these shadows which makes it a good palette for all ages and beginners. If you were to look at the palette, you'd think it's a dupe for the Naked 3 palette. In my opinion, it's not. Whilst some of the shades are similar, the texture is very different. The Naked 3 palette is more rich in pigment and wears better on the eyes. That being said, there are more matte eyeshadows in the L'oreal palette which I prefer.

My overall opinion is that this is a good palette for beginners. If you want to dabble in eyeshadow but don't want to go crazy, this is perfect. The pigmentation isn't too strong and all the shades blend well with each other making it easy to create a look. If you have a lot of palettes and wear eyeshadow a lot, I'd give this one a miss.

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading,
Avani

(P.S. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!)
