Multi Tasking Makeup Products

Today's post is all about the makeup products that can be used for things other than what they're meant for.

Gel Liners
Gel liners make brilliant cream eyeshadows. Yep, you read that right! Dip a blending brush into the liner and buff it onto the back of your hand to get rid of the excess. Next, apply it to the eye. The result, a very long lasting eyeshadow. You can also dip the same brush into an eyeshadow after the gel liner to create a unique smokey shade. Blend this all over the lid for the easiest smokey eye.

Highlighting Palettes
Most brands now have these in their lines. Not only can you use them on the face to give your skin a healthy glow, but you can also use them as eyeshadow. Most palettes comes in strips or other divisions, just use them as you would an eyeshadow palette. This comes in handy if you're travelling and don't want to take too many products with you. My personal favourites are the Revlon Highlighting Palette in 'Bronze Glow' and the Rituals Eye and Cheek Glow in 'Pink.'

Bronzer
Again, you can use your bronzer as eyeshadow. If it's matte, it'll make the perfect crease shade to warm up a look. You can also use it underneath a pale shimmery colour to create a beautiful bronzy glow to the lids. I did this in my Bronze Summer Makeup Tutorial and it's one of my favourite things to do all year round. It makes your eyes glow!

Lipstick
Lipstick as blush- try it! All you need to do is, using your finger, apply the colour where you like to place your blush. Blend it out with either your fingers or a brush. The result, a long lasting cream blush. You can use most lipsticks for this with the exception of liquid lipsticks. I'm thinking of doing a post using one bold lipstick in several ways. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in. I love using the L'oreal Rouge Caresse lipstick in 'Aphrodite Scarlet' for this one. It's the perfect pink to perk up the complexion and goes with any makeup look.

So those are all the different ways I like to use certain makeup products. Makeup is meant to be fun and if you think the texture of the product would work for another use, try it. At the end of the day, makeup can be washed off so have some fun and try new things.

What are your unconventional ways to use makeup products?

  1. Love multi tasking products! I do the gel eyeliner as a base for eyeshadow, and the bronzer too. Haven't got a highlighting palette yet, but I'll try the lipstick one :) xx
