Tried and Tested: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I love trying foundations! I get all excited when I see one that looks good and the nice counter lady hands me a sample. Ahh just pure excitement. Today, I'm reviewing the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (£28.00).

There are two things to note about this foundation. Firstly, it's full coverage and secondly it's quite matte. If you have oily skin, then this is the foundation for you. If you have dry skin, like myself, then you will need some sort of illuminating base. I like to use the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm underneath because it's very light but gives a nice glow to the skin. (For the purpose of this review, I'm not wearing it in any of the photos in the post.)

Double Wear is very long lasting. It will be around all day so it's great for long days or when it's hot. I didn't even set it with a powder and it lasted all day. With my dry skin however, it did look a little cakey after a couple of hours, especially around my nose. It didn't feel heavy on my skin for the first few hours but towards the evening I did feel like I was wearing a foundation.

It also has SPF 10 which would probably give you a white cast in flash photography. I prefer to apply it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and then go over it with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This gives a really flawless but natural finish.

So in conclusion, I think this is a great foundation and it could work for most skin types. Saying that, if you have dry skin I think there are better foundations out there. I won't go on about my love for Silk Creme again, but if your skin is dry then I recommend Silk Creme over Double Wear. If you are interested, get a sample because it is a fab foundation. I'm also really intrigued by the new Estee Lauder Double Wear BB Glow range- that looks like it would be great for dry skin gals!

Thanks for reading,
