All About my Hair

I have a love hate relationship with my hair. At times I love that it's really thick and I can style it which ever way I want and sometimes it's the bane of my life!

Naturally my hair is really thick, curly and frizzy with emphasis on the thick part. When I get it cut, my hairdresser writes Thick Hair next to my name to remind her it's going to takes ages to do. I'd say it's mid length at the moment because I'm in the process or growing it back out; I had about 4 inches cut off in December and miss my long hair.

In terms of products, the one brand I seem to always go back to is Tresemme. Their haircare just seems to work really well for my hair and it doesn't hurt that they're super affordable. I love their original Keratin Smooth range but I'm currently testing out their new Keratin Smooth 7 Day System. I have high hopes for it so you'll be seeing an in depth review popping up here soon. After washing it, I comb it through then apply some of the L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil through the mid lengths and ends. I find this really nourishes my hair and helps tame frizz. It's also a heat protector.

I do heat style my hair quite a lot. I know it's bad for your hair but the alternative is letting it dry naturally (which takes a day) and then washing the next day because it's a mess. Heat styling it is the lesser of two evils for me! I usually blow dry my hair straight each time after washing. I'll only style it further with straighteners or a curling wand if I'm doing something special.

I'm quite good at looking after my hair; I wash it every two days which definitely helps. To get through it, on the last day I use the Klorane Dry Shampoo which is the best I have found so far. About once a week I'll do an overnight oil treatment using Almond Oil. I work this into the hair (including the roots), put it up in a bun and go to sleep. The next morning I wash it out with a deep cleansing shampoo and follow up with an intensive conditioner. I notice a massive difference in my hair when I don't do this for a while so it really does work for me.

That's it really. It can be very tiring to do my hair but I can't just leave it dry naturally. If I did that I'd have to wash it every day which means I'd be spending about half my day doing my hair- ain't nobody got time for that!

I'm thinking about doing a post about how I style my hair including what tools etc. Let me know if that's something you're interested in.

Thanks for reading,
Avani
