Transitional Makeup: Summer to Autumn
September is a bit of a transitional month in my mind. Technically it's Autumn, but most days we see a mix of all seasons. Whilst I'm writing this, it's going from blustery showers to sunny skies. Before I get into full Autumn mood, and all its berry lipstick goodness, I thought I'd do a post on the makeup I reach for during this awkward month.
Illamasqua LookFantastic Eyeshadow Palette:
Isn't this the most gorgeous palette! Four earthy shades that are just so beautiful. The reason I think this is perfect for transitioning my makeup wardrobe from Summer to Autumn, is the shade Vernau. It's a beautiful matte red toned orangey brown that strikes the perfect balance between wearable and statement. A little of this in the crease will instantly update your look for Autumn, with just a hint of the Summer that was.
Hourglass Strobe Lighting Blush Palette:
I love all the three blushes in this gorgeous Hourglass palette, but the shade Euphoric Fusion is perfect for this time of year. It's a lovely mauve that's a little brighter and more vibrant than Mood Exposure. It's still very subtle and just gives a hint of colour to the cheeks. It pairs well with everything else in this post and looks so pretty. I do have a full in depth review of this palette coming soon, with swatches, so stay tuned for that.
Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Sable Brown Eyeliner:
Brown eyeliner is such an underdog makeup product. It's softer than black eyeliner and it's far less noticeable if you mess it up, which is what normally happens to me. Any brown eyeliner will do, but my personal favourite is the Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Sable Brown. The formula is a little firmer than the Scandaleyes liners so I find it much easier to work with. It still has a little creaminess if you want to smudge the line out and soften it. I love a bit of brown eyeliner blended right into the roots of the lashes. It looks so natural and really pulls a look together. Brown eyeliner, the unsung hero of the makeup world.
Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum:
Don't get me wrong, I love a good berry lipstick. But, I'm not quite ready to rejoice in all things burgundy. Not yet anyway. Sugar Plum is the perfect in between shade as it's plummy, but it's not too dark. It looks like your lips, but two shades darker. It's natural and effortless.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes:
This is another brilliant transitional shade. It's a deep pink with nude undertones that's ideal for this season. It's so wearable and feels really comfortable on the lips. I wanted to include a matte option because not everyone likes a balmy finish and this is just so pretty, I couldn't resist!
What are your favourite transitional makeup products? I need more!
