The Perfect Luminous Setting Powder

My problem with setting powders has always been that they take away the glow that I've worked hard to create. I want to set my makeup so it lasts, but I want my skin to remain luminous, not dull. Finally, we have a powder that does just that.

The Bourjois Java Rice Powder has been in my collection for some time, but I've never really known how to use it. Eventually I plucked up the courage to put it all over my face and I was very impressed with the result. My makeup lasted all day but still had a glow in all the right places.

It's a loose setting powder that contains very small shimmer particles. That's why I was hesitant; I assumed that shimmer would translate to glitter on the face. It doesn't. There is not a single detectable fleck or shimmer or glitter when this is on the face. Despite it leaving your skin looking luminous, this powder is suitable for all skin types.

I like to apply the powder with the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush because it picks up the right amount of product and applies it to the skin evenly. The only downside to the Java Rice Powder is that since it's a loose powder, it's messy. It also has quite a strong scent. I can't quite put my finger on what is smells like, but I'd give it a whiff in store. Neither of these is a major problem for me. At £9.99, you can't really complain!

Overall, I'm really glad I gave the Bourjois Java Rice Powder a go. It's great for keeping your makeup in place whilst still giving a luminous finish.

Have you tried this powder? What are your thoughts?

  1. I hear so many good things about this, the packaging reminds me of Bare Minerals, quite messy!
