Tried and Tested: Superfacialist By Una Brennan Rose Hydrating Calming Creamy Cleasner
It's official, I'm a cream/balm cleanser convert! I don't know why I didn't jump on the bandwagon sooner but I'm here now and I'm never coming off. I used to use a foaming cleanser (shhh don't tell Caroline Hirons, the skincare goddess) until I realised I wasn't doing my dry skin any favours. I won't go into too much detail about why foaming cleansers are bad, check out Caroline Hiron's blog for that, but in short they are drying and rubbish, even on an oily skin.
Being new to them, I wasn't quite ready to spend £20 plus on a high end cleanser. I did some research and stumbled across the Superfacialist By Una Brennan Rose Hydrating Calming Creamy Cleanser, which you can buy in Boots. Sidenote, the name is far too long; from now on I'm referring to it as the Una Brennan Rose Cleanser. Anyway, back to the product, the cleanser is very creamy and is really easy to work into the skin. I use it on dry skin, massage it in for 60 seconds and remove it with a hot cloth, basically a cotton face cloth soaked in warm/hot water.
When I use this, I feel like I'm cleansing the skin but also hydrating it. I use this morning and night and I really love it! I would agree that it's calming and I wouldn't hesitate to use it if my skin was really aggravated. Although it has hydrating and creamy in the name, oily skin gals don't be put off. It doesn't leave behind any residue or waxy film making it suitable for all skin types. It's £7.99 which I think is a fantastic price. It's a great cream cleanser to try if you're still not sure whether they're for you.
Now, being a rose product, it does have a very strong rose scent. It doesn't smell artificial by any means, just very strong. I've gotten used it but if you are not a fan of rose scented products then you probably won't like this.
All in all, this is definitely a cleanser worth checking out; it's perfect if you are new to the whole cream/balm cleanser thing like me. After using this, I definitely want to check out others. I hear the Merumaya one is very good and not too expensive either.
Let me know what cream/balm cleansers you recommend. I really want to try more!
Thanks for reading,
Avani
xoxo
P.S. The cleanser is currently on offer for £5.33 in Boots- a real bargain, so now is the time to check it out!
