Review: Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream

I've never really bought into the whole BB and CC cream campaign. I've always found distinguishing between the two quite difficult because they seem to do similar things in my opinion. The cynic in me also thinks that beauty brands have made what was once a beauty break through, into a huge marketing ploy.

That being said, the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream (£9.99) has had a lot of hype surrounding it, and rightly so! Being a CC cream, it is very light coverage, but it does cover. It evens out my skin and just makes it look flawless. The different colour pigments are surprisingly good at correcting, especially the green to counteract the redness in my skin as you can see in the before and after shots. For the purpose of the review, I thought I'd also show you the base with and without concealer/blush etc.

As you can see, it makes a huge difference in evening everything out. Whilst it doesn't cover any active blemishes, it did cover my scars quite nicely. You don't need much and it blends so beautifully into the skin. I used my Real Techniques Expert Face brush to apply it and honestly, I was able to blend everything out it a matter of minutes. The application process is more like a foundation which is what I was expecting from a CC cream. I love this product. It imparts a nice glow to the skin without looking greasy or oily and doesn't cake up either.

To me, it's the best no-makeup makeup base I've come across. It doesn't cling to my dry patches and the lasting power isn't too bad either. I'd say the finish is satin so I think with a powder, it would be suitable for an oilier skin.

The only downside to this product is the shade range. It only comes in four shades, with Bronze (the shade I wear), being the darkest. It is a very good match for me but if you're skin tone is darker than mine, then unfortunately this is not the product for you. This seems to be an ongoing drugstore brand epidemic; releasing good bases but limited shades.

If you can find your right shade then I would highly recommend this product. It just makes your skin look good. This definitely makes me want to try other Bourjois foundations and bases.

What drugstore foundation would you recommend? I'd love to check them out.

Thanks for reading,
Avani
