A month ago I attended the wedding of a very good friend. Since I went up the night before, the blogger in me saw a good opportunity to make a post of what makeup I took and and what I ended up using and not needing. I tried to be ruthless when packing but let's face it, I'm a 'what if' packer.
Before we get started, I packed everything into the Zoeva Tote Makeup Bag which is bloody brilliant. I was able to pack everything I needed, including brushes, into one handy bag. I'll pop a review up at some point because it is just the best thing since sliced bread. I've only included the makeup I wore on the day, I did pack more so I could do my mum's.
Base:
- Niod Photography Fluid and Beauty Flash Balm- I mixed these two together for a glowy base.
- Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream- My foundation of choice since it's very buildable, looks natural and lasts all day on the skin.
- Urban Decay Naked Concealer- This stuff covers everything, without going cakey or dry. I love it.
- Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer- The lightweight texture makes this concealer perfect for highlighting under the eyes.
Cheeks:
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit- This houses a bronzer, two blushes and three highlighters and setting powders. I used Luminous Bronze Light (bronzer) and Mood Exposure (blush) which are so beautiful and look incredible on the skin.
- Mac's Cream Colour Base in Hush and Becca's Champagne Pop- You know how much I love my highlight! I couldn't be without these!
- L'oreal Infallible Sculpt in Light/Medium and Maybelline Contour Kit- The L'oreal is a cream to powder formula and the Maybelline is a regular powder. Layering the two creates an incredible sharp contour.
- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder- I always use this with a light hand to set my makeup.
- Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzer- The over packer in me wanted an extra bronzer.
Eyes:
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer- This stuff makes your eyeshadow last all day, and night.
- Makeup Eyeshadows in Latte, Frappe, Cocoa Bear, Cosmopolitan, Bitten, Shimma Shimma and Corrupt- I actually used all of these eyeshadows to create a peachy pink smokey eye. Layering up the eyeshadows meant they lasted all day.
- YSL Shocking Eyeliner- This is a very thin felt tip black eyeliner. You can get really close to the lash line with this.
- Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara- My favourite mascara of all time.
Brows:
- L'oreal Brow Artist Kit in Medium/Dark- The powder in this little kit is the perfect shade and consistency for the brows.
- L'oreal Brow Artist Gel in Medium/Dark- This brow gel contains fibres so it makes them look naturally thicker and fuller.
Lips:
- Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk
- Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudist
- Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie
Extras:
- Mac Fix Plus
- Urban Decay All Nighter Spray
- Disposable Mascara Wands
- Bioderma
- Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner Spray
I ended up using everything I took except for the Bourjois Bronzer, Bioderma, Charlotte Tilbury lip liner and YSL Shocking eyeliner. For an over packer, I'd call that a success. I also took my Beauty Blender and a whole host of brushes, most of which are in My Makeup Brush Capsule.
I loved my makeup for the day and was so impressed with how well it lasted considering it was so hot. These products definitely stand the test of time and I think my makeup looked as good at the end of the day as it did at the start. The eyeshadows didn't fade or loose their vibrancy and I only had to touch up my lipstick.
