Beauty Battle: Vichy Pore Purifying Clay Mask vs Una Brennan Salicylic Acid Clay Mask

I love clay masks. When my skin is looking and feeling a bit meh, a good clay mask can make all the difference. Today I'm comparing two of my favourites to see which comes out on top, and which I'd really recommend.

The masks I'm comparing are the Una Brennan Salicylic Clay Mask (£9.99) and the Vichy Pore Purifying Clay (£14). The Una Brennan mask contains Avocado Oil, Acacia Honey, Salicylic Acid and Dead Sea Mud which all help draw out dirt/toxins and balance out the skin. The Vichy mask contains Kaolin and Bentonite clay which absorb excess oil whilst purifying your skin. It also contains Vichy Thermal Spring Water which aids hydration.

Aside from the ingredients, the main difference is the texture. The Una B mask is thicker and drier making it a little tricky to work with. Vichy's mask is much more emollient. It's easier to apply and a lot easier to remove. I like to remove both with a hot flannel. I really like the fact that the Una B also exfoliates my skin with the Salicylic Acid. It definitely smoothes the skin and makes it look more clarified. I would say, however, my skin glows when I use the Vichy mask. It looks that much clearer and brighter. It also does a better job at stopping further breakouts if I'm going through a particularly bad phase.

Although I prefer the ingredients of the Una Brennan mask, I prefer the results from the Vichy mask for my dry skin. That may seem a bit strange, since its main ingredients control oil production, but out of the two, I find it works better for my skin.

What's your favourite clay mask?

Thanks for reading,
Avani
