If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know how much I love the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (£23). It deeply hydrates the skin, without it feeling heavy or greasy. I've never found anything close to it. Vichy recently released their Quenching Mineral Mask (£14) which is on a similar vein, so I thought I'd do a comparison post.
Now, the first thing I'd say is that the Vichy mask is not technically designed to be used they way I use it. You're supposed to apply a generous amount, leave it on for five minutes and you don't rinse. I personally think that if you're going to do that, you may as well just leave it on overnight since it doesn't show on the skin.
The texture of the masks are very different, with the Origins mask having more of a cream texture and the Vichy mask having more of a gel texture. I personally love the texture of the Vichy mask because it's so cooling and refreshing. It's feels lovely, especially if you have sensitive skin. The Origins mask however is more hydrating and more nourishing.
I do prefer the versatility of the Vichy mask, you can use it overnight, or just apply it as an immediate cooling mask if your skin is very reactive and sensitive. I actually think this would work well for people with rosacea because it is very gentle and calming. It's also a great one to use during the summer when your skin maybe isn't as dry.
Personally, I would repurchase the Origins mask. Hydrating qualities aside, the Origins mask is like magic for my skin. If my skin is really freaking out and breaking out, I use this and it brings everything back down to normal. I don't know how or why but it is absolute magic in a bottle. If you have sensitive skin or even oily skin, I'd recommend the Vichy Quenching mask since it is a lot lighter.
What's your favourite hydrating mask?
Thanks for reading,
Avani
