Eyebrows are probably the most framing feature of the face. They make such a difference to how a look comes together. I always find that when my brows are tamed and filled in properly, I look more polished and put together.
To me, brows start with how they are shaped. It's something that you probably want to leave to a professional to take care of as it's very tricky to do on your own. Personally, I get them threaded because it catches all the fine hairs. Yes it hurts, but you get used to it.
Once you've got them to a point where they're the best they're going to be with no makeup, you can fill in any sparse areas. You can use a brow pen or powder. I prefer powder because it looks a lot more natural. When choosing a colour, you don't want to go too dark. Bare in mind your hair colour and if you want to go darker, start by going one shade darker. This will give you more control whilst still giving you your bold brow. I also like to use a slightly cool tone brow product. This is just preference but they do look more natural in my opinion.
When filling in the brows, using powder or pencil, you want to use very light feather strokes in the direction the hair is growing. I like to start on the brow that needs less work because you can use it as a guide for the other brow. I think most people have one brow that they love and one that's very temperamental, at least I do! This brings me to my next point, don't focus on getting them exactly even. They are never going to be. It's impossible! Try and get them to match slightly but don't worry too much if they don't. You can see in the picture above, my eyebrows are not exactly the same.
Whatever you use, it's always handy to have a spoolie nearby to comb through before and after you fill them in. Brushing them through before helps with the natural shape of the brow and gives you a better idea of what you want to fill in. Brushing them through after helps to diffuse the product and almost makes them look a little more real. It allows the texture of the eyebrows to come through. You can then set your brows. Brands usually offer clear or tinted brow gels which are a very similar texture to mascara. Just be sure to wipe the brush on a tissue before running it through the brows. That way you don't get too much product on the brush. You can even use hairspray to set your eyebrows. Take a spoolie at lightly coat it in hairspray- brush it through your brows and you're good to go!
That's pretty much everything for brows. It's really a trial and error situation until you find your favourite products that are the perfect colour and texture. Some brands with great eyebrow products are MAC, Benefit, Rimmel and the queen of brows, Anastasia.
