Autumn Makeup: Purple Smoky Eyes

I love Autumn. More specifically, I love Autumn makeup. I've come up with a really easy purple smoky eye inspired by this time of year using only three eyeshadows.

This is definitely more of a night time look so if that's not your thing, I am working on a more daytime appropriate makeup look too!

I'm going to start off with the eyes and as always, we're going to being by priming them. Next, take the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Metallic Pomegranate' and using your finger apply this all over the lid. This colour is basically Autumn in a pot. It's a beautiful plum with flecks of gold that looks stunning all over the lid. Don't worry about it being too neat because we're going to blend it out. I used the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush for this. It quite stiff but it works really well to blend cream eyeshadows.

For the crease, I'm using 2 colours, both of which are from the Sleek Ultra Matte Dark palette. These shades are dupable so just use any similar shades you have. On a crease brush, take the shade Maple (a matte deep pinky brown) through the crease. You can build this up as much or as little as you would like. Using the same brush, take Villain (a matte deep purple) and apply this to the outer corner blending it into the crease. Keep repeating until you are satisfied with the intensity. Take a clean blending brush and blend out the edges. Spend time on this step; you really want to soften the line and make it look seamless.

L-R 'Metallic Pomegranate', 'Maple' and 'Villan'
I then went back in with the cream eyeshadow and carefully placed another layer onto the centre of the lid. To highlight my brow bone, I used Flesh from the same Sleek Palette. To highlight my inner corner, I used the Balm's Mary Loumanizer. I took it quite far into the inner corner to really brighten up the eyes.

For eyeliner, I used a gold kohl pencil on the upper and lower lash line. This is really going to bring out the flecks of gold in the Colour Tattoo. I also lined both waterlines with a classic black eyeliner. To balance out the eyes, I did take a small amount of the cream shadow under the eye using a pencil brush. Finish off with lots of mascara (and false lashes if you want) and the eyes are done! Optional: if you want more definition on your upper lashline, line very close to the lashes using a black eyeshadow before using the gold pencil.

I kept the rest of the face very simple. Here's what I used:

Foundation and Concealer- Laura Mercier Silk Cream and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
Blush- Sleek Flushed
Bronzer- Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer (original)
Contour- Natural Collection Crushed Walnut
Highlight- The Balm Mary Loumanizer

Seeing as the eyes are quite heavy, I think it's best to opt for something more natural on the lips. I used the Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry with Laura Mercier Lip Gloss in Bare Pink over the top.

That's the makeup look done! I love these deep jewel tones for the Autumn/Winter. I think they look absolutely stunning on pretty much everyone. The shades I used on the eyes are quite easy to dupe so if you don't have the exact shades, hopefully you can find something similar.

What's your favourite Autumn makeup look?

Thanks for reading,
Avani
